Life These Days

In the past three weeks, life has taken on a rhythm that can only be described as erratic...not much of a rhythm, huh?

Erratic but beautiful.

Here's what we've been up to...

Counting fingers and toes.

Learning about life in a great big world.

A newborn photo shoot with Kim.

Welcoming Spring with pansies in the planter.

Snoozing.

Yawns.

A few strolls to the park.

Game time with Grandma.

Family moments.

Nursing, nursing, nursing.
(one of my favorites, by the way.)

Snuggling.

Taking baths.

LOTS of kissing.

...more snuggling.

aaaand, crying.

Oh we just love this little baby.

Crier

My, oh my, this boy cries an awful lot...

But it's still sorta cute.

Did any of my mommy blog readers have a cry-loving newborn? What did you do to stay sane and/or curb the crying?

A 365 Project

That first year flies by - it's what they all say, right? Well, "they all" are right on.

As a mom, I always am amazed by how the days can seem to crawl by with the diapers and the fussing - the monotony of it all - and the year still goes in a flash. The ones that were so little are big before we even know it.

I've decided to put together my own little 365 project since I've seen so many cool ones done by friends and online connections. This one is all about Britt. Sort of a photo journal of his first 365 days. If you're interested in following (grandmas, aunties?) click here and save the link. I'll be trying to upload pictures I've taken of our boy as the days go by.

Still Here...

Yes, I'm still here. Just a little entrenched in new mommy-hood all over again (and loving it, by the way).

I'll be back to my normal posting habits soon. As soon as I perfect the art of the one-handed blog post. And my contributions are sure to be less and less baby-focused as I get a handle on being a mother of three. Until then, you'll have to suffer through sickeningly sweet photos of my brood being adorable and the jumbled, haphazard thoughts of a new mother.

Speaking of sweet photos, here's one of my favorites of our time in the spa retreat...er...I mean, hospital:
(how I wish I could go back to get my needs met by a friendly nurse and room service!)

Told you it was going to be sickening. ;)

Lucky Day

Happy St. Patrick's Day.

I'm not a big St. Patty's celebrator.
(The only one wearing green in our house is Britt - it wasn't worth the risk of him getting pinched, he's too cute to pinch.)
Although I really would like one of those Shamrock Shakes from the golden arches. I'll have to put in a carry-out order with Mr. B.

"B" is for Boy.

Baby B was born last night (March 13th) at 7:42 pm after a wonderful labor and speedy delivery. He is beautiful and sweet and everything a mommy could want. I am blessed to the point of tears.
8lbs 13 oz
21.25 inches
No name yet...we're workin' on it. Sometimes genius takes time.

Hopes: Officially Up.

My OB says Baby B is huge. Like, exceptionally large. (I knew this...see?) So she wants to induce. Tomorrow.

I'll be 39 weeks, 2 days. And so, so ready.
I think Baby B and I will have a much nicer, more cordial relationship with him/her outside my womb.

Here's the catch: The hospital has said, "Don't call me, I'll call you." Yep, that old line.
I have to wait (possibly all day) to hear from the Labor and Delivery floor if they have room and man power for my - non-emergency - induction.
I asked my OB how early they could call: 6 am.
I asked my OB how late they might call: two days later.
Isn't that the most terrible thing to do to a pregnant lady?

My hopes are high, although they probably shouldn't be. I talk myself down every time I get those fun little butterflies fluttering around as I think of holding my sweet little one (or big one, as the case may be...)

Hopefully tomorrow I go from this:
To holding one of these:
this sweet photo is only to symbolize the possibility of a boy or girl.
NOT TWINS.

Pray for me?

Evie's Bedroom

I posted Mr. Beck's bedroom earlier in the day and I'm getting around to Evie's girly Paris inspired space.

Her canopy bed and dressed are old...I guess they could be considered heirlooms by now. They belonged to my mom as a girl, I used them throughout my girlhood and now, they're Evie's. Three generations.
I took the closet doors off so that she could have a bit more living/playing area in this itty bitty room of hers. We put her baby dolls and all the fun stuff to go with inside.
My mom sewed the pillows behind Evie in the photo and she made curtains to match. I adore this fabric. Sweet but not too babyish.

A Paris beauty must have her hats.

Reading Tasha Tudor. Does anyone out there love Tasha as much as we do?

As soon as we get her Eiffel Tower mural up on the blank wall I'll be posting more photos.

Beck's Bedroom

I love nesting. I love what it does to my home. Closets clean, kitchen organized, toys purged, kid's rooms redecorated...

Here's what we've done to Beck's bedroom.

A little Jungle Boogie.

Beck's bed is red. It is actually a hand-me-down from my Aunt Mandy from when her boys were little. She gave us the head and foot board and Mr. B. fashioned it into a usable bed for Beck. My aunt has been really generous with giving us the things her kids have outgrown. We have chairs and lamps and bedding and art...I love her taste, so it's a perfect pairing.

Shelving with books and toys and animals galore.
The stuffed frog in the top of the trio of photos is Beck's gift to the new baby brother or sister. The middle photo shows a carved, painted bird my grandpa made, a panda bear that once belonged to me and the wooden giraffe we brought back from our trip to Jamaica.
The bottom photo is the painting my little sister did for Beck and gave him at Christmastime.
Isn't it whimsical and cute and perfect?

More details.

My mom - so talented - made much of the bedding for his room. The bed skirt was made by her and the pillow case too - I love that crazy, dotted fabric. She also made Beck's baby blankets that he still loves...

Yes & No

Yes, I'm still here.

Yes, I'm still full o' baby.

Yes, I'm tired and achy and impatient.

Yes.

craig fordham

No, I don't feel like little one is coming any time soon.

No, I don't think I'll ever meet him or her.

No, I don't feel like I have a worthwhile thing to add to the universe until there's a newborn involved.

No.

Wonderland

I'm really looking forward to seeing Disney's new, eerie rendition of Alice In Wonderland.

Is it your cup of tea?

It looks sure to be a sensory delight.
