We're sending him to Grandma Honey's for a couple of days before his celebration so we can ready the house and his (extra large) gift without his knowing.
I'm hoping little sister and I can whip up one of these before he comes back:
September 1st 2005 was such a good day.

from Barefoot Contessa at Home
8 ounces cream cheese, at room temperature
1/3 cup sugar
2 extra-large egg yolks, at room temperature
2 tablespoons ricotta cheese
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
1 tablespoon grated lemon zest (2 lemons)
2 sheets (1 box) frozen puff pastry, defrosted
1 egg beaten with 1 tablespoon water, for egg wash
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. Line a sheet pan with parchment paper.
Place the cream cheese and sugar in the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with a paddle attachment and cream them together on low speed until smooth. With the mixer still on low, add the egg yolks, ricotta, vanilla, salt, and lemon zest and mix until just combined. Don't whip!

Not to worry, I'm taking a school break come Spring when baby is due. By the time I return I should be in nursing clinicals instead of just prerequisites! Excited.

Sooo...for the record? I'm showing. Already.
Proof positive: While standing and waiting for a table at this yummy pizza joint this weekend a sweet older lady brought me a chair and insisted I sit. Good thing, we waited an entire hour and 35 minutes!
But really? Showing at 9 weeks pregnant? Really??? I look to be a good 15 weeks along. We'll just pretend that's hot instead of scary.
At least the perks are kicking in.

Last year I celebrated the blogiversary with a drool-worthy parade of cakes.
This year, I'll celebrate with a theme: "Threes."

When we returned the house had quite an...um...pungent odor about it. The kids were happily munching down on what they informed me was "Man Food."
I'm cringing. I have visions of Julia Child's boeuf bourguignon floating around in my head and my children are eating canned "meat."
It took them an average of 12 minutes per bite to chew. Why is it that mystery meat grows as you chew it? It just gets drier and drier...and spongier and spongier.
I'm off to light some candles to rid my home of the stench...
P.S. Julie & Julia is an adorable movie and any foodie or francophile or person with just plain good taste in movies ought to take themselves out on the town to see it.
