Bad Day

I've had a rough day.

debi treloar

Unfortunately, my bad days don't look beautifully melancholy...they look more like Pizza Hut delivery at the end of the night. Extra cheese, please.

Intrigue

"Her face was sad and lovely with bright things in it, bright eyes and a bright passionate mouth - but there was an excitement in her voice that men who had cared for her found difficult to forget: a singing compulsion, a whispered, 'Listen,' a promise that she had done gay, exciting things just a while since and that there were gay, exciting things hovering in the next hour."

Thinking About...

...how Spring feels.

...when I might clean the house.

...when my nephew will arrive.

...how much I still love coffee after trying to give it up.
...how I like red hair but feel blonde all over.

...fitting into my Anthropologie jeans I bought a size smaller; in faith.

...how much I love to see my babies smile.

...chocolate.

The Last Snow

Woke up this morning to snow on the ground.

Surely this is the last snow...

Come on Pretty Mama...

Quirky Fact: Kokomo by the Beach Boys has always been my favorite song. And while other songs fade in and out of my "faves list", this one has always remained.

Mr. B. knows this. Knew this before we got married and promised to take me to each of the destinations mentioned in the famed song (just one of the things that made me fall hard in love with him).

I believe lyrics are in order:

Aruba, Jamaica, ooh I wanna take ya
Bermuda, Bahama, come on pretty mama
Key Largo, Montego, baby why don't we go, Jamaica
Off the
Florida Keys there's a place called Kokomo
That's where you wanna go to get away from it all
Bodies in the sand, tropical drink melting in your hand
We'll be falling in love to the rhythm of a steel drum band
Down in Kokomo
Aruba, Jamaica, ooh I wanna take you to
Bermuda, Bahama, come on pretty mama
Key Largo, Montego, baby why don't we go
Ooh I wanna take you down to Kokomo,
we'll get there fast and then we'll take it slow
That's where we wanna go, way down in Kokomo.
Martinique, that Montserrat mystique...
We'll put out to sea and we'll perfect our chemistry
By and by we'll defy a little bit of gravity
Afternoon delight, cocktails and moonlit nights
That dreamy look in your eye, give me a tropical contact high
Way down in Kokomo
Aruba, Jamaica, ooh I wanna take you to
Bermuda, Bahama, come on pretty mama
Key Largo Montego, baby why don't we go
Ooh I wanna take you down to Kokomo,
we'll get there fast and then we'll take it slow
That's where we wanna go, way down in Kokomo.
Port au Prince, I wanna catch a glimpse...
Did ya catch that? We've got:
Kokomo
Aruba
Jamaica
Bermuda
Bahamas
Key Largo (Florida Keys)
Montego Bay (Jamaica)
Port au Prince (Haiti)
Montserrat (Carribean Island)
Martinique (Carribean Island)
In our nearly six years of marriage we've hit three of these spots.
Key Largo for our honeymoon.
The Bahamas for a four day vacation in 2006.
Kokomo multiple times in 2005-2006. Kokomo isn't actually a place. Did you know that? At least we can't find it on a map anywhere.
But there is a place in Minnesota (the Mall of America, to be exact), a fun little restaurant bedecked in tropical decor serving fabulous, fruity food.
It's called Kokomo.
We ate there lots, so we marked it off our list. :)
Next up?

I know, right?! I am waaaay too excited. We found a fabulous all inclusive deal at a wonderful resort in Montego Bay - this means we can mark two spots off our list. Mr. B. has made me a happy woman. And you know, when Mama's happy, everyone's happy. :)

Just One?

Reading the blog, {Pure Style Home} (one of my faves) I came across a little something...

Find one photo that sums up my style.

I found this photo a few months ago and knew this was the one I would use. It brings me to a relaxed, sparkly state of mind. Restful and alert at the same moment.

My style, in one photo:

Isn't that a dream? I actually named this file "dream" in my inspiration files on my computer.
Love it so much.
The love starts here:
The chandelier. It goes without saying, it's perfect, especially with the rustic brick wall as a backdrop. Dripping with juxtaposed glam.
See the sweet old-fashioned seat at the foot of the cozy bed? Just right.
The nightstands are sagey green and distressed. Adding a bit of color but keeping with the worn feel of the room.
And those linens on the bed. Drippy lace and white cotton. Mmmm...nap time.

The masterpiece of the room is this brick wall. It forms a natural headboard for the bed in its design. So gorgeous.

So there it is! My style.
If you've got a photo floating around in your files, you are officially tagged to play along. Be sure to leave me a comment so I can visit your blog and see your inspiration.

{not so} Frivolous Friday

Most High, omnipotent, good Lord,
To You alone belong praise and glory,
Honor and blessing.

No man is worthy to breathe your name.
Be praised, my Lord, for all your creatures.

In the first place for the blessed Brother Sun,
Who gives us the day and enlightens us through you.
He is beautiful and radiant with his great splendor,
giving witness to you, Most Omnipotent One.

Be praised, my Lord, for Sister Moon and the stars
formed by you so bright, precious and beautiful.

Be praised, my Lord, for Brother Wind
And the airy skies, so cloudy and serene;
for every weather, be praised, for it is life-giving.

Be praised, my Lord, for Sister Water,
So necessary yet so humble, precious and chaste.

Be praised, my Lord, for Brother Fire,
Who lights up the night.
He is beautiful and carefree, robust and fierce.

Be praised, my Lord, for our sister, Mother Earth,
Who nourishes us and watches us
While bringing forth abundance of fruits
with colored flowers and herbs.

Be praised, my Lord, for those who pardon through your love
And bear weakness and trial.
Blessed are those who endure in peace,
for they will be crowned by you, Most High.

Be praised, my Lord, for our sister, Bodily Death,
whom no living man can escape.
Woe to those who die in sin.

Blessed are those who discover your holy will.
The second death will do them no harm.
Praise and bless my Lord.
Render thanks.
Serve him with great humility.
Amen.

Ahhh...Paris

I want to go to Paris. Don't you?

Take a long gander at these photos of people on Parisian streets and tell me how you feel about them. These people are fabulous and interesting and...wonderful.

Caution: Don't scroll down too fast. You might miss some splendid French Fashion.

Don't usually love booties. But these? I could do.
The bag/scarf/beret are lovely.

This woman is quintessential Paris.
The haircut, the soft leather pants, the blousy shirt...
Sigh.

She has stepped out in her jammies.
Never were they so sleek.
Would like to get a crusty french loaf and cafe au lait with her.

Here she is; one of my favorites of the bunch.
No explanation needed.

Ah...Mr. Fashion himself.
He looks quite handsome, don't you think?

She.
Perfection.
The glasses. The hat. The nubbly coat.
That bag. The length of coat and dress.
The shoes. (booties again, that I would do.)
All of it. Another fave.

Isn't he interesting? Love his boots and plaid cardigan.
Mr. B. would
love to grow a beard like this.
I wouldn't like it. Let's not show him this post, m'kay?

All right, I think I need to do something very unparisian here...
I need to pinch her cheeks.
She's too cute.

Here's another cute one.
Why do outrageous combos like hot pink socks and
navy blue peep-toes work in places like Paris?
Why?
Maybe it's her fabulous coat. I mean really, people.

Here's another guy who's shoes I love.
His hair is interesting - shaved on the sides and long on top/back.
My little brother just got this hair cut...I suppose he's very fashion forward.
Ugh, did I just say that?

She looks happy and smart. I like her.

She looks moody and elegant. I like her too.

I am studying every bit of this photo. It's in my top 2 of the group.
She is drop dead marvelous.
Her outfit is wonderful (that coat,
again!)
See her teeth? Love them.

I like her because...well...she's interesting.
I want to know her story.
Let's start with why she turned her hair iridescent turquoise.
Quite nice, really.

Yellow!
Now this woman looks a little unapproachable - how do you
do that in yellow?
But she's still dressed fabulously, so I forgive her.

Isn't she sweet?
I want her dress.
Want it, want it, want it.

Oh la la...
Here's another classic Paris girl.
You could peg her in the city of lights in no time.

She's rockin' the school girl (or is it boy?) look.
She's doing it nice justice. The ankle pants, the white socks, the shoesies.

Here's another feathery number.
Fringe bangs look natural on her...here we go with another amazing jacket.
(Note to self:
when you visit Paris wear a stop-dead-in-your-tracks-gorgeous-jacket.)

And, I've saved my favorite for last.
She looks a bit LA to me (maybe its the cell phone and diva hand?)
but she's still perfect and chic.
Loving her pink/grey/splash of yellow ensemble.
And the bag? Yes, please.
Her hair is wonderful.
Her glasses are divine.
She's quite gorgeous.
Yes, I think I should like to be her for a day.

So what do you think? Do you share any of my favorites? You wanna go to Paris too? You wanna spend immense amounts on your clothes and get photographed and blogged about? ;)
Just a visit to Paris will do for me...
All of these jaw-dropping photos came from the great blog {The Sartorialist}. Visit for more fashion inspiration from cities all over the globe.
Maybe we'll visit Milan or NYC next time...are you in?

Want To Be Her

Real Life Tuesday - 7

Last Tuesday I gave you the photo of our pretty little ballerina cleaning her not-so-dirty house.

You people are seriously funny and I had a hard time picking just winner...but, I did! I prevailed. I stuck with it. I made a choice.

In real life... I would fall off that ledge and bring the chandelier with me! ;)
Andrea
{Worley House}
Teehee. I wont admit that Andrea's comment won because of the titter it gave me to visualize the dainty dancer falling to her disgrace and bringing the chandelier crashing along with her.
I wont admit that at all...
