Morning Scene

If you were to find yourself in our neck of the woods and crack open the front door, make your way to the living room and peek in, you might find this...
Two pajama'd little ones cozy on the floor munching their warm, cinnamon muffins in the glow of a Christmas tree.
They're quiet...they're watching The Night Before Christmas.
Rain pours noisily out the window...we're secure in our nest of a warm, dry home - a blessing we do not take for granted.

Yes, I'm letting my little ones eat sweets and watch TV mid morning. Yes, I plan on putting in another movie when this one is over. Yes, it is much too close to Christmas for this mother to be uptight about television viewing and cavities - that's what January is for.
And, yes, I have much too much laundry and packing to do...

Sugar High

Real Life Tuesday - Christmas Edition

A few weeks ago (pre-sickness) I posted this nap time number for you. Little did I know, I'd be spending the next couple of weeks in bed...and not looking near as glamorously forlorn as this girl.

Oh grief she doesn't look comfortable she looks hungry! Who in their right mind takes a nap on something they can't stretch out on? Might as well sleep in the car. I say naps need to be well thought out so you don't wake up mad! Of course I am old and beauty is relative to where the sleep lines will be. No one would want to drool on a $3000 love seat anyway!
Submitted by my Mother-in-law, Lynda

Love this response. And the reason I posted it: I tend to agree.

'Tis the season for a Chrsitmas tree photo with a plethora of gifts underneath. Preferably with iridescent, pink bows.

Flyboy Bachelor - The Bachelorettes

The bachelorettes for the Jake season of The Bachelor, starting January 4, have been announced. Oh, how I love this little Bachelor(ette) tradition of ours.
Important? No.
Silly? Maybe.
Entertaining? Definitely.

The girls (click here for a complete list of the 25) are a really gorgeous group. The head shots look like a Miss America line-up...with less hairspray and no sashes (thank God.)
I've compiled a group of some promising candidates. Let's get to it. Base your opinions solely on looks and occupation (this could be fun).

Commercial Pilot.
I don't know why they picked her. She and Jake will have nothing in common.

Suuuuper pretty.

Flight Attendant.
Again with the blonde. Again with the flighty occupations.

Swimsuit Model.
I guess we know who'll be rockin' the bikini...

Fitness Model.

Nanny? Nanny.

Wardrobe Consultant.
I wonder if she'll give Jillian's wardrobe a run for it's money. Remember Jill's clothes? Epic.
The stuff of dreams.
Give it a shot, Corrie. I dare ya.

Okie dokie, there ya have it. What do you think? (Your feedback is vital.)
I think this is going to be a wonderful way to get me through the final weeks of my pregnancy. Simply perfect.

A Birthday Party of the Evie Kind

Some photos of Evie's birthday celebration. It was an all day affair.

Starting with a breakfast at home. Mr. B. made his specialty: pancakes bedecked with whatever he could find in the pantry. Sometimes it's chocolate chips, sometimes fruit or nuts, this time we had cinnamon chips.

Miss Evie got the princess mug that morning.
Her biggest gift from Mr. B. and I was a Bitty Baby. I've been waiting to give my girl an American Girl doll since before I even had a child. American girl is one of my favorite girlhood memories. Her name is Baby Faith - Evie's middle name - and she is quite loved already.

A gift that fabulous deserves a kiss for daddy.
Do you love Mr. B.'s "morning hair"? It's quite attractive.

The scrumptious coconut cupcakes. Yes, they're Ina.

She requested a pink cupcake tea party. Here are the cupcakes...
Here is the tea party. Graciously hosted by Grandma Honey. Lace tablecloth, floral china cups and all.

Another request was a night of bowling. Didn't you know? Frilly pink tea parties and bowling go together like a dream. A perfect, birthday dream.

Evangeline Faith

Evie - December 17th 2006

Today is her birthday. The little apple of my eye is turning 3. Three? Three. It's so funny how time seems to crawl by day by day but you look at your three year old and think, "Wasn't she just a snugly newborn? Where did the time go?"

I know just where it went: to grocery shopping, diaper changing, to learning manners and laundry. The time went to tying little shoes, making another pot of mac n' cheese and bedtime prayers.

Evie - 1 year old
Evie is the sweetest, most affectionate little fireball you could ever come across. She has us in stitches with her new ideas and completely original personality.
The girl has no capacity to wait. She wants it. She wants it now and she wants it right.
Evie and I - 2 years old

She loves her big brother and her baby dolls and her puppy, Teddy, with a fierceness that could quite possibly suffocate them.

She nicknames those closest to her heart with names like, "Babe" and "Sweetie" and "Cutie." Mr. B. has been "cutie dad" for a few months now.

She disobeys consistently. Daily. Hourly? And has an explanation for every instance. There's always a good reason. Always.
Evie will surely keep us on our toes and she will charm us every step of the way.

Today - 3 years old

Happy Birthday, Sweet Pea!

Almost finished with the semester. Just one more final to go.

Almost time to focus on Christmas. Family. Gingerbread houses. Christmas cookies. Fun novels. Holiday movies. Candlelight church services. Smiling preschoolers. Carols. A special girl's birthday. Christmas cards. Celebration of the birth of my savior.

For the Record

I'm a Duggar Lover.

They have more kids than I would ever dream of having. 19 children is not for everyone, but it certainly is for them. Have you watched their show? I encourage you to watch 2 or 3 episodes before you make a judgement call on this family. They are competent, loving, involved parents. Their children are respectful, smart, happy people.

I love me some Duggar. :)

Here's a bit on their latest (smallest) addition.

Glam Christmas

What I'm thinking of when I should be thinking of finals:
Craig Fordham

Oh, to have thin ankles again and an occasion to wear a party frock...

I'm sick. I've been hit with this nasty bug of all things...while pregnant!

I'm trying really hard not to completely flip my lid with having been bound to bed for 5 days and the scare that comes with being ill, taking medications and trying to keep a healthy baby. Not to mention I have 2 sick kids and have missed school this entire week - ahem...finals are next week. I haven't a clue how I'm going to catch up.

"Trust" has a whole new meaning at this point in my life. And the word does not bring up happy feelings. I'm scared.
While I'm scared, I'm trying to entertain myself positively. Here's what's doing it:
